TBC –Teddy Bear Care Corporation, is a fairly new animal rescue non-profit 501 (c) 3, that serves Greene, and Fayette Counties.
TBC benefits our communities with more than just the regular rescue operation(s) of most animal non-profits.
TBC prides itself on being an organization that is committed to training and education for both the “Fur-baby” and the “Parents”.
Among many other programs, TBC has established a new program that promotes, and enhances smiles among our elder residents at local nursing homes,
and personal care homes with a Pet Therapy Program.
Rocko is a local resident of Greene County, that is on “loan” to TBC for this program.
He is a gentle, and mild mannered dog, that was selected especially for this job!
Rocko is established with the United States Dog Registry for Pet Therapy, and is accredited for that purpose.
On July 6, 2016 Rocko made his début at the Golden Living Nursing Home in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania. Visiting with the many residents, He was joined by Rep. Pam Snyder and Staff in greeting everyone who wanted to visit with them. They both put smiles on many faces, and made new friends among the people that were delighted to pet and visit with Rocko!
Pet Therapy is an institution unto itself, that generates not just smiles on the face, but also stimulates reactions of the heart, mind and body!
Pet Therapy is used in many, many other facets of the human condition. Because the animal’s soul, and spirit are comprised of unconditional love, in most cases it reaches into people much deeper, and wider than any other way.
TBC plans to have Rocko visit with other facilities in both Greene and Fayette Counties.
As a favor to Rocko, you can also contact TBC if you are looking to adopt one of his fellow fur-friends that need a forever home! Put a smile on Rocko’s face too!
TBC- TST Team
The Teddy Safety Team is a team of individuals who will be available during the winter months, when reports of domestic animals are increasingly found to need adequate supplies of warmth, food, water, and shelter. These team members also assist in search & rescue operations when TBC gets a call of a lost fur-baby.
Many times when we receive these calls the Team is able to see happy results! It is very IMPORTANT that TBC gets the call of a lost fur-baby as soon as possible, before the trail grows too cold.
We are currently working on an extension of this program to branch out into the community for other emergency services. Keep watching as TBC grows!
APO~CS PROGRAM
TBC networks with both the Greene & Fayette County Adult Probation Offices, for community services that are required by the Magistrate, and/or by other Court Order(s). Sometimes, when these individuals complete their community hours of service, they fall in love with the TBC mission, and once they have concluded their probation and hours, they go through the TBC training classes, and officially join the LOVE TEAM!
THE TBC FUND
The Board of Directors is currently working on a new way to utilize the old TBC Fund to benefit the hours of work that each volunteer places into TBC. This way when you have an emergency situation with your fur-baby you will be able to have the TBC financial assistance to help offset the cost(s) of your vet bill under: EMERGENCY/URGENT/CRITICAL care issues. Because we value their labor of love, and all their hard work to help the mission of TBC, we would like to facilitate a way to generate some percentage of monetary value. This would be set up on a “grant” basis determined by the hours that has been accrued by each volunteer and member. Once the Board has completed creating this new program, they will announce how the program will work.
TBC FOSTER CARE
The TBC Foster Care program is designed to have interested individuals be available to foster cats, kittens, puppies, and/or dogs while TBC is still a foster based operation.
We cannot rescue the unwanted ones until we have a place for them to go. TBC will do an assessment after a rescue call is reported for pick up, and then go to the foster care list to begin calling to locate a foster home. If a foster home is not available the rescue cannot be completed. To become a Foster Parent for TBC, the interested candidate must complete an application, with a vet check, background check, and a home environment check. Applications are available through this web site.
